In the end we waited around most of the afternoon, and still it was not quite finished, but finished enough for us to take it for the night and return the next day to finish off. So we booked ourselves a
site back at Glen Cromie and headed there for the night. While the van was in being fixed we got them to make some modifications to it for us, which is why it took so long in the end. Instead of just replacing the axel we got them to put on a bigger one and in order for them to do that a few other changes were made. So the van is now 4inchs higher and the box that was at the front of the van was moved to the back to help lower the towball weight.
Next morning we headed back to the caravan repair place after stopping at the wreckers to pick up a part, we left Mike at the Caravan place and Liz and the kids headed to the park to play while we waited. again...
After eating our lunch in the car at the caravan repair place, the van was finally ready to go. So we said good bye to the caravan man and headed for Sorrento.
The "New Look" Caravan |
We arrived in Sorrento at about 5.30pm, we were looking for a caravan park for the night, but instead found the council camping ground by the water, such a beautiful spot we picked our site and set up for the night before heading into town to find some dinner as our caravan pantry was still empty.

The next morning we got up early, to catch the 8am Car Ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff. They have an early bird special on the 7am and 8am ferrys where caravan only cost $22, which saved us about $50 in the end - well worth heading off early.

From Queenscliff we travelled to Torquay and stopped at the information centre to pick up all our maps and brouchers for the Great Ocean Road.

Yay! So glad you got your van back finally! You clearly don't do things by halves! Congratulations on the reuniting, may you have many many many days together now.
FYI you can climb the split point lighthouse (Aireys Inlet) at various times which are unknown to me, but perhaps someone knows. You can also climb out to Eagle Rock at low tide. Theres's a great berry picking place if that sort of thing is for you at Gentle Annies, just outside of Lorne. Angahook Forest Park is lovely.
And we'll be there after Christmas (Aireys Inlet). But there's probably not enough to keep you entertained until then.
Anglesea Christian Fellowship (Baptist) is where we go to church when we're there, I think it's 1045am on Sundays, in the Uniting Church building.
