We woke up in Broome on Saturday 26th May after agood night’s sleep in the Caravan (with no wind!) and we had a pretty lazyday. We went to the Broome CourthouseMarkets in the morning to have a browse around at all the goods for sale. We only bought a couple of things but it wasgood to have a look at the markets. After lunch, we unpacked a bit more of the gear from our Cape Levequetrip and we gave all 3 kids a haircut! Josh and Sam both wanted a haircut ‘like daddy’ so we gave them a“crew-cut” which was quite a big change from their previous style, but theyloved it.

In the afternoon, we wentdown to Cable beach and watched the camel trains walk past us as the sun setover the water. We decided not to drivedown on the beach and we were glad we did. There were so many cars on the beach that we thought it spoilt the wholeaffair a little bit! Nonetheless it wasa beautiful afternoon and we watched a nice sunset over Broome’s Cable Beach.

We went to church on Sunday morning at the Broome AnglicanChurch. It was a lovely service and wehad a good chat to some of the locals afterward over a cuppa. That afternoon we went out to the Broome Portand walked along the Jetty. We saw 3 seaturtles and some very large fish swim by the Jetty in the fast tidal currentunder the Jetty. Later, we went down toTown beach to play at the water park for a while. Even though it was a bit cold, the kids lovedsplashing around at the water park and squirting water at each other in the freepark on the Broome foreshore.

One of the reasons we were in Broome was for Mike to have adentist appointment (because a bit of the tooth that gave him trouble in Perthhad chipped off) so on Monday morning, Mike went to the dentist. Unfortunately, the tooth had even moreissues, so the dentist put a crown over the tooth to hold it all together untilwe are back in Sydney. So with a verynumb mouth, Mike took Bruiser (our car) to have a steering and suspension check(which we wanted to do before we hit the Gibb River Road and the BungleBungles - both of which are meant to be pretty rough roads). While Mike was getting the carchecked, Liz and the kids did school at the caravan. Later that afternoon we did a big shop atColes and re-stocked in preparation to hit the Gibb River Road for the nextweek. We also did some other shopping (to get some replacement shoes for thekids and some other bits and pieces) before we went back to the caravan parkand packed the car to allow us to try and get to Windjana Gorge (if possible) thenext day.

Wow, I remember being in Broome about a dozen years ago. Loved it ! Hope you're eating plenty of Barramundi - best place in the world for it.
Love those new haircuts, boys, just by the way... :)
